Twilight (3/5)

I didn’t know that Forks had an ethnic majority-minority student body of 90210 model quality. Come hither teen chemistry in large doses were all singe, and worked kittens on this over-aged, bored, immature, and lonely male (clearly, the tertiary market for this material). Love the dreary peninsula sets and vampire pallor; oh to have a dreamy immortal want to drink you in and yet, resist for the sake of–um why was he resisting again? And I’ll blame the bumbling action scenes on the director’s gender–call me sexist if you will.

my first view of this movie I felt quite the same. I enjoyed it despite myself. (I now have more nuanced and snarky critiques of it) But my favorite part was actually the closing credit sequence using Radiohead’s “15 Steps”, where the film essentially YouTube Vids itself, making a fan montage to music that is way better than what the fans could make. I liked the last 4 minutes better than the whole movie. Meaning not that i enjoyed the movie so little, but that I liked the video sequence so much.
also, I can’t believe you went to see this movie.

Kathryn Bigelow and the chick who directed Punisher:War Zone (aka the most awesome movie of last year) disagree with your sexist assertion. Also, I heard Penny Marshall was in a tiff over it too but I don’t pay attention to her.

yes, that coda was indeed a highlight. when that song hit, something in my gut reminded me of an ache the film just missed.
Punisher is in the queue.
